FORMAT: Black and White, VHS, PAL.In April 1961, at the age of 42, Nelson Mandela attended a congress in Pietermaritzburg. Seven to eight months after this congress the momentous decision to undertake an armed struggle to achieve their aim of equal rights was taken. In order to survive Mandela had to go underground to continue the struggle. The video clip provided here was done by a British interviewer, name not available, in 1961 shortly after the April congress while Mandela was in hiding.
